First day for everything

So this has been the day I’ve been so afraid of for the past weekend.  It was great to see all my friends again in the Creek.  Congrats to Scott and Haley…God Bless and Good Luck to you both.  It was nice to spend that time with Paul.  It hit me a lil harder than I thought when I said good-bye.  Yes, I know…gettin personal now, but hey…it’s a journal…deal with it.  I guess up to now, I’ve always told myself, “It’s ok, you’ll see him at the wedding.”  Now that the wedding’s over…there’s no tellin when I’ll get the time to see him again.  Ok, no more personal, gettin too deep into it…sorry for the “Poor Shannon Misses Her Boyfriend” diatribe.  Won’t happen again…at least not in this blog.

So…like I said…today has to be the most terrifying day EVER!!! I’m starting both of my jobs.

Job #1 The Washington Post

I’m sitting in the newsroom right now, I’ve got some ‘down time’ so I figured a blog was best suited for this. It’s crazy.  I’m training, so I’m being given a billion “tricks of the trade” tips left and right, meeting a new face every two seconds, I just met Lexi…ask me what she does tomorrow, and repronouncing my name everytime I’m introduced to someone.  It’s TAR-uh, not like the house in Gone with the Wind.

It just hit me that I’m working not more than ten feet…that was April…away from Bob Woodward.  The very reporter who, along with Carl Bernstein, uncovered the Watergate Scandal.  Not sure what I’m talking about…rent All the President’s Men, Robert Redford played Woodward.  How amazing is that.  I saw his name on his door when I was doing my first duty of passing out news wire stories. WOW!  Still recovering from this huge realization.

Job #2 American Eagle

So, I haven’t started that one yet, but that will come at 5pm.  All I can say is 40% discount!!!! More on that later on tonight.
